New Site!

Posted by Fawn Lester on February 16, 2010 at 9:49 AM

I am very excited about the new site! There are more features and it makes it a lot easier for us to update and add new content. If you are wondering why there hasn't been any updates in a while... it's because my puter crashed and I lost everything! All the hard work I had put into the old site, you'd think I would have backed all that stuff up right? Wrong!

So anyway, here we are with this great new site! So much better I think and it will make things a lot easier for me to maintain. I don't have to worry about losing everything again either. One of my favorite things about this new site is now you can become a member and be the first to know about updates and additions. Members get an email automatically everytime there is a new update. How cool is that?

Let us know what you think! :D

BTW... membership is free!

Dear Johnny,
I was a 21 year old Air Policeman in the Air Force in 1966 when I first heard your recording: "Day For Decision".
It really hit home with me and I went out and bought the album.
While I thought the entire recording was very apropos to the times and the climate in our country at the time, the closing lines really got to me.
When you said: "Try this test: Lift your eyes to a flag, then sing out, as loud as you can, the words to that old, worn-out, antiquated freedom hymn you learned so many so many years ago".....
I was alone in my barracks room at the time, looked out of my window at our beautiful flag across the street in front of our headquarters building, and sang the words along with you.
I got a lump in my throat, and felt a little mist in my eyes.....then when you said that if you do....."thank God for you mister, you're still an American!"
Man! Did that get to me.
I've waited a long time to say this to you: Thank God for you Johnny.
Thanks for that recording which I have treasured throughout the years (the entire album is good).
Thanks for stirring those feelings in so many Americans.
I am going to purchase the CD as the album is pretty worn out after all these years, and I will check out your other recordings.
May God Bless and keep you.
Sincerely,
Rick Marcano

Dear Fawn,
I recently signed up as a member (see my posted comments of 12/15) and was trying to make a purchase from your store.
I kept getting a response about "cookies not being enabled", and being somewhat computer illiterate, cannot figure out how to rectify this.
Is there another way to do this?
Thanks!
Rick

Hi Rick,
Normally this is a browser issue. Try deleting your cookies, cache, and temporary files within your browser, then restart your browser and try again. This should work. If it doesn't let me know and we will do something else.

Thanks,

I have to 2nd what Mr. Marcano had to say. That particular recording had a similar effect on me then as well. I was not yet in the US Air Force, but did serve from the Nixon years through Reagan, and always Day For Decision resonated within my thoughts. I have tried to share it with the young people around me. That piece is as relevant today as it was in 1966 when I first heard it on KDOL with the Gary Powers incedent, Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile crisis, and the assassination of President Kennedy all fresh in memory.
